Complete Your Smile and Prevent Bone Loss and Other Complications with Dental Implants

At Magnolia Park Dental in Coppell, Texas, it doesn’t matter how many teeth you have lost — you can still get a complete, functional smile. While we can replace your lost teeth with bridges and dentures, patients who want a permanent restoration always find dental implants an excellent option. And rightly so because a dental implant not only lasts for a lifetime, but it acts, feels, and performs like your natural teeth.

Dental implant explained

A dental implant is the closest thing you will get after losing your natural tooth. Why do we say so? Unlike dentures and bridges that only replace the visible part of your tooth (crown), a dental implant replaces the root along with the crown, providing stability and performance just like your natural teeth!

A dental implant consists of three parts:

  • A titanium screw (implant post)
  • Abutment
  • Crown

The implant post is a titanium screw that is strong and light and rust-free, and biocompatible. During healing, the screw fuses with the jawbone to act as the tooth root. This integration makes the dental implant just as secure as your original tooth.

An abutment is a connector attached to the implant to add length to the tooth and connect to the crown or any other prosthetic component. We install a natural-looking crown to add resilience to your new tooth to complete the dental implant procedure.

Dental Implant Process

Like any other dental procedure, installing a dental implant starts with a consultation with Dr. Brady Camp. Here, we evaluate your jawbone to ensure that it has sufficient volume and density to support an implant. If not, we may suggest a mini dental implant or bone grafting to give you a healthy bone.

After Dr. Camp gives you the go-ahead for a dental implant, the next stage is inserting the implant in your jawbone. The procedure might sound invasive, but you have nothing to worry about because we use anesthesia to reduce discomfort.

Inserting the implant is the most crucial process of the dental implant. Luckily, our dental team has the technology, experience, and artistry to place the implant where it should be — not too deep into the bone and definitely, not too shallow.

After the implant surgery, we give the implant a few months for healing to take place. During this period, osseointegration occurs, where the implant fuses with the jawbone. After healing, we insert the abutment and finally install a crown, bridge, or denture, depending on the number of teeth missing.

Benefits of dental implants

When looking for tooth-replacement options, an implant-based restoration is a clear winner for obvious reasons. Many patients prefer dental implants because:

  • Implants deter bone loss by continuously stimulating the jawbone
  • They can last for life with proper care
  • Implants don’t need any special care — maintenance is similar to that of your natural teeth
  • They prevent adjacent teeth from shifting into the empty space
  • Unlike bridges, the implant treatment procedure doesn’t interfere with the health of the surrounding teeth
  • Implants look and function like your natural teeth

Magnolia Park Dental in Coppell, TX, is proud to offer affordable implant-based restorations that improve the form and function of your smile. Please dial (972) 573-4600 to book an appointment with Dr. Brady Camp for high functional dental implants.
